Unless you’ve been living under a (fashion) rock, you may have received an email (or a hundred) about the Melbourne & Sydney Event, VFNO. I, fell into latter category. Completely inundated by newsletter send outs, AMEX website buyouts, Instagram feeds all to promote this glorified shopping night.
VFNO (or then FNO) was launched in New York in 2009 and was brought to many more cities the year after. If you think back to the economic climate in 2009, it was pretty dismal. There was little shopping going on obviously… But the fashion gods thought the event would stimulate a resurgence in the retail industry.
The event has grown year after year. Initially having limited participation by retailers has grown to a shopping/festival/concert/cocktail party night all wrapped into one.
Retailers will be holding their own in-store events, glasses of champagne and usually a competition of some sort. A full list of promotions can be viewed here.
American Express offer: Spend $50, and receive $20 back (max value $60) / AMEX Lounge on Pitt Street
David Jones: Fashion parades and pop-up fun, but mostly the Instagrammable flower decorations
Harrolds: Free candle for purchases over $500, at 7:30 a vogue editor will be attending. Fingers crossed Christina Centenera!
Manning Cartell: 15% off current season collection // DIAGONAL MATRIX SS16
Zimmermann: 15% off current season collection // Mirror Mirror SS16
Melbourne was held last week, and the Sydney event will be held on the 1st September.
